Carl Fredrik Svenstedt

Carl Fredrik Svenstedt was born in Stockholm in 1967. He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard in 1989 and received his Master of Architecture in 1993 at the Yale School of Architecture. After practicing architecture in New York and France for a number of years, he opened his independent architectural practice in Paris in 2000. He is Associate Professor at the Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, and has taught architecture at la Villette, Rouen and Münster schools of architecture, as well as the history of architecture and film at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français.

The practice Carl Fredrik Svenstedt Architect creates explorative architecture, building unique spaces using innovative construction techniques. The office has notably designed several contemporary interventions in historic settings, and won the 2010 French Laurier Bois prize for timber construction. The office is currently working on several cultural and residential projects for both public and private clients.
